Excel Music is not a music store; it is a music school and, as such, takes your music education very seriously. Therefore, though we offer some of the most flexible scheduling in the industry, this does not mean the student is without obligation. The following document carefully spells out these obligations. Music requires effort and persistence to learn and we pledge that the education you receive, here, will be of the highest quality.

Lesson Fees: $21.00 per 30-minute segment. Fees are for private lessons. Group lessons can be arranged. Other classes are priced on an individual basis.

Registration: $25.00 per student or $45.00 per family. Registration fees are nonrefundable and remain valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of the student’s, or family’s, last lesson(s); i.e. students returning within one (1) year of withdrawal will not be required to repay a registration fee.

Deposit: Two weeks deposit is required at the time of registration. Deposit will be applied to the last two weeks lessons taken, if and when two weeks notice of withdrawal is received. Lessons held by deposit may not be rescheduled or cancelled. Deposits are non-refundable, i.e. they must be used or forfeited. Deposits may only be used for active school days and may not be used during school closings. Deposit will hold only the first two weeks of any month which has not been fully prepaid.

Withdrawal: Two weeks notice prior to the date of the final lesson is required for withdrawal from lessons. Withdrawal with less than two (2) weeks notice results in forfeiture of all or part of the deposit. Lesson days and times are reserved for each student and therefore two (2) weeks notice is additionally required for a reduction in lesson time; i.e. changing from a 60- to a 30-minute lesson, or any break in lessons greater than two (2) weeks. Lesson withdrawal is verified when the parent, legal guardian or adult student has completed and signed the Withdrawal Form. Withdrawal from lessons must be made in person at the registration desk and cannot be  made by telephone, fax, letter or e-mail.

Payments: Tuition is due at least one month in advance. Prepayment, in full, is due by the last day of each month, for the following month. Deposit will hold only the first two weeks of any month which has not been fully prepaid. Monthly auto-billing is offered as a convenience to those paying tuition by credit card.

Scheduling & Procedures: All scheduling, tuition payments, registration and withdrawal must be made through the Excel Music reception desk. ANY SCHEDULING OR WITHDRAWAL NOT MADE THROUGHTHE RECEPTION DESK IS NOT VALID. Scheduling and withdrawal must be done by a parent, legal guardian or an adult student. Students and/or their guardians are responsible for remembering lesson days and times. Excel Music does not provide reminder notifications.

Rescheduling: 24 hours notice in advance of lesson time is required. Rescheduling is provided as a courtesy, is subject to availability and is not guaranteed. Lessons must be rescheduled with the regular instructor within a reasonable period of time, not to exceed fourteen (14) days, and must be rescheduled at the time of notification. If a message is left requesting rescheduling, the call will be returned, but one must speak directly to a representative on the day of notification (or Monday if the message is received Sunday) to confirm the reschedule. Failure to speak directly to a representative, or inability to find a suitable make-up time slot will not result in a credit. Once rescheduled, a lesson cannot be moved again for any reason. Rescheduling of lessons must be done by a parent, legal guardian or an adult student. Students and/or their guardians are responsible for remembering changes to lesson days and times—reminder notices are not provided. Make-up lessons cannot be scheduled for group lessons, special classes, workshops or seminars. Students will be allowed two (2) same-day (less than 24 hour notice, but BEFORE the lesson) reschedules per year for illness. All cancellations must be rescheduled or tuition for that lesson is forfeited; i.e. make-ups cannot be converted into credits.

Refunds: Registration fees and deposits are non-refundable. A 10% processing fee is applied to all refunds of pre-paid account balances.

Faculty Absences & Replacements: In the event of a faculty absence or replacement, a substitute or new teacher will be provided. If a substitute or new teacher cannot be provided, students receive a make-up or credit. Refusal to take a lesson with a substitute or new teacher will be treated as a cancellation without notice and no credit will be offered.

Instruments & Study Materials: Students must bring a fully functioning instrument (except amplifiers, drums & pianos) and their study materials for each lesson. Excel Music cannot loan instruments, books or other items to students for lessons.

Weather Closings: Excel Music will be closed only when hazardous road or weather conditions exist. Every attempt will be made to contact students in the event of an unscheduled school closure.

Guests: Please understand that parents and/or children accompanying students to their lessons must remain in the waiting area. Parents, only, may observe lessons with teacher permission. Children may not observe classes or lessons.

Photo Release: The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs and video of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.

Updates: Terms and Conditions are subject to change without notice. Students may opt out of updated Terms and Conditions by withdrawing from lessons as mandated by the most recent Terms and Conditions in effect. Current versions are posted on the board across from the reception desk and on the Policies & Fees page of our Website at www.excelmusic.us. A copy of the most current version is always available upon request.
